ESPN-HS – Just a 6-10 jumper through state, Dakarai Hightower (WA) has exploded this summer up to a US#1 7’3″ to win USATF JOs Saturday.

Dakarai Hightower of Curtis High School in University Place, WA jumped 7′ 3″ this past Saturday, becoming the current #1 high school high jumper. Later that evening I received a request from ESPN/HS asking if I had any photos of Hightower. I found a half dozen from earlier meets including this one from the Pasco Invite that I forwarded to them. It was fun to see it published later that day.

Joe Hardy - Washington State 3A Boys 3200 Meter Champion
Doug Binder wrote up a great article covering the first day of races at the 2012 Washington State Track & Field Championships for 2A, 3A, and 4A schools. Better yet, he used one of my photos for the article.
As the article states, it was a night of upsets, and this race was no different.
It was deja vu for Nathan Weitz, who led the race for 7 of the 8 laps only to be passed by Joe Hardy half way through the last lap. Last year Anthony Armstrong did the same thing.

If you want to know more about the race, go read Doug’s article on ESPN/HS but remember to check out my photo too!
